About the role
This is a newly developed and highly responsible role in a dynamic Department. The post will involve a high level of interaction with academic staff, working with them develop research strategy, identify opportunities and write strategic research proposals. The postholder will also develop strong networks with industry and funders, with the aim of growing collaborative research across the Department.
What you would be doing
Working closely alongside the Director of Research, you will be supporting the development and implementation of the Departments research strategy. You will pro-actively identify and support the creation of high-value opportunities, including the writing of large, collaborative bids, managing internal calls, drafting letters of support and advising the pre-award team on costing implications.
To be successful in this role, you will have developed strong relationships with funding bodies and industry partners, using connections to identify new or advise on existing opportunities. You’ll will be the main industrial liaison point of contact in the Department, working closely with the Industrial Advisory Board, and drawing together connections across opportunities in both education and research. What we are looking for
With a proven track record of successfully supporting the development of bids for competitive funding, you will have a good awareness of the research and funding landscape for electrical engineering or similar discipline, built up through relevant experience either in industry or through an academic background. As a confident communicator, you will be able to present complex matters succinctly, and enjoy bringing diverse teams together to generate ideas.
You will be able to work across teams diplomatically, and be well-experienced in identifying and nurturing relationships with funding bodies and industry partners, already having an existing relevant network. Further information can be found in the Person Specification on the JD.
