We are recruiting for an IT Officer to join the Centre for Human Genetics at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
In this varied role, you’ll be the first point of contact for IT support, helping researchers and staff solve a broad range of technical challenges. You’ll work across Windows, Apple, and Linux devices, handling everything from troubleshooting hardware and software issues to configuring networks, supporting AV equipment, and inducting new staff. You’ll collaborate with colleagues in the Medical Sciences Division IT Services and liaise with third-party suppliers and university teams to ensure high-quality IT service delivery.
To succeed, you’ll bring a degree-level education (or equivalent experience) and a solid background in IT support, with proven expertise in Windows 10/11 and Apple devices. You’ll have excellent problem-solving skills, technical breadth across hardware, software, and networking, and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to users at all levels. You’ll also be highly organised, adaptable, and committed to keeping your skills up to date in a fast-evolving IT environment.
