About the role
We are looking to appoint a Lecturer Teaching to lead and teach on EDPS0251 Families and Children: Professionals and the State (Year 3). This module is designed to support students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the complex relationship between children and families, on the one hand, and professionals and the state, on the other. The focus will be on the UK, from which most of the relevant literature is drawn but there will be some consideration of comparative and international contexts.
The successful candidate will also support other modules on the Education, Society and Culture degree programme by leading seminars and undertaking marking and assessment as appropriate to discipline area and subject knowledge.
This post is a fixed term maternity cover until 20 December 2025
About you
The successful candidate will have a doctorate in History, Education, Sociology, Social Policy or in a cognate discipline in the social sciences or humanities. You will evidence of a strong background in teaching in the field of Education and/or related areas in the social sciences or humanities and have experience of using online teaching and learning platforms (such as Moodle) and a variety of IT packages in a work environment. In addition, you will have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills appropriate for all aspects of the role including lecturing and supervision.
