Leeds Beckett University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Physical Education to join our vibrant and collegiate Carnegie School of Sport. Our school is grounded in the development of Physical Education teachers, dating back to 1933 when the Carnegie College of Physical Education was formed. Since that date, we have consistently invested in creating the best opportunities for the development of Physical Education teachers via our world leading degrees and research in this area.
The Carnegie School of Sport is an increasingly attractive place for those wanting to work on projects of real-world significance that are co-produced with practitioners, industry experts and policy makers in the world of sport and physical education. We aim to create conditions that ensure all colleagues experience personal growth around meaningful work. To that end, we will support the post holder to develop direction, create and deliver success.
We would welcome applications from collaboratively minded individuals, who have a strong educational and professional background in Physical Education. You will have experience of supporting students or early career Physical Education teachers develop their craft as teachers. Ideally you will be able to evidence expertise in one or more areas relating to pedagogy, curriculum development or physical literacy. You will be expected to have relevant Undergraduate and Post Graduate qualifications including qualified teacher status (QTS). A doctorate would be desirable but is not essential. Applicants seeking appointment at Senior Lecturer will be expected to have strong experience in delivering research-led teaching in undergraduate, postgraduate or professional development contexts. A demonstrable or emerging capacity to contribute to our research, knowledge exchange and consultancy activities will also be valuable.
