About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a post-doctoral researcher to join a research project based in the Department of Education, University of Oxford. The project aims to explore whether higher education serves to politicise today’s students, through a longitudinal, mixed methods study. The project is being conducted in collaboration with colleagues at Durham University and the University of Manchester, and is funded by a grant from the Economic and Social Research Council.

We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our research team. Your main responsibilities will include: reviewing existing evidence and literature; organising and running online qualitative interviews and in-person focus groups; managing and analysing qualitative data; collaborating in the preparation of publications and dissemination materials; presenting papers at conferences and meetings; and carrying out various administrative tasks associated with the project. There may also be an opportunity to be involved in analysing the quantitative data collected as part of the project.

You will hold a relevant PhD qualification (or be close to completion), with sufficient relevant research expertise, experiences, and specialist knowledge in the field and about the project topic. You will also have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, to be able to work independently and as part of the team, representing the team, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

This position is full-time on a fixed-term basis until 31 October 2028 (and to start as soon as possible).
