About Us:
The University of Greenwich is a world-class institution with a diverse student and staff community with an ambitious forward-thinking vision. With campuses in Greenwich, Avery Hill, and Medway, we are proud to deliver an inclusive and transformative student experience while fostering academic excellence, inclusivity, collaboration and impact.
We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Student and Academic Services Directorate as the Head of Timetabling and Exam Scheduling. This is a new and critical role at the heart of the university’s operational and strategic delivery, ensuring that our timetabling and examination processes meet the needs of our student and staff community.
The Role:
As the Head of Timetabling and Exam Scheduling, you will lead the development, implementation, and management of efficient timetabling and exam schedules across all campuses. Working collaboratively with faculties, professional services, and key stakeholders, you will ensure that timetables reflect the university’s strategic goals while optimising resources and supporting student success and experience.
The successful postholder will be responsible for leading on and ensuring the optimisation of space utilisation and assessing the impact of student growth and changes to the estate when planning and preparing both the teaching and examination timetables.
You will lead the development and implementation of major timetabling and exam review looking at current approaches, identifying opportunities for improvement, and embedding timetabling within wider large-scale transformational institutional projects.
You will drive innovative, efficient, and data-driven scheduling solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and improve the student and staff experience. Working collaboratively across departments, you will integrate new systems and procedures to enhance the student and staff experience.
Our main office is on the Avery Hill campus with travel to our Greenwich and Medway campuses required. We have actively embraced hybrid working with most of our staff splitting their time between the workplace and remote working.
About you:
The successful applicant will have significant experience of timetabling delivery on large scale, including extensive practical experience of working with timetabling applications.
You will also have significant experience in leading and fulfilling multi-stakeholder university-wide projects successfully.
You will also be experienced at strategic thinking, with the ability to develop and implement ambitious change on a large scale.
You will have excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to develop and motivate teams of staff, combined with excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise work, think clearly and work calmly to meet service standards under pressure.
Why Join Us?:
At the University of Greenwich, we offer more than just a job. You’ll become part of a thriving community that values diversity, inclusivity, and impact. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on the student experience and contribute directly to the University of Greenwich’s 2030 Strategy.
You don’t meet all the requirements?:
Studies show that women and Black, Asian and minority ethnic people are less likely to apply for a job unless they meet every criteria. So if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with the job description, we’d love you to still apply. You might just be the person we’re looking for.
