About the role
The Faculty of Engineering and Design are recruiting a Placement Manager to provide operational line-management and support to a motivated team of five Placement Officers and one Placements Administrator. The Placement team support undergraduate engineering and architecture students to secure twelve or six month placements as part of their degree course. The team engages with students to support them both securing and on placement and liaise with industry to develop and maintain placement opportunities.
You will be providing day to day supervision of the Placement team, developing content for student employability sessions, structuring administrative processes and leading on the engagement of industry partners for placement opportunities. You will be a student facing member of staff and focus on students who may have more complex needs. You will work with the Head of Placements and Partnerships to recruit, train and develop the team and be involved in process improvement projects.
You will be working in our Faculty Placements and PGT Employability Hub which comprises our Undergraduate Placement team and Postgraduate Employability team and you'll be supported by the Head of Placements and Partnerships. You will also collaborate with central Careers and other Faculty based placement teams and be regularly communicating with academic colleagues in the Faculty.
About you
You will have the skills and motivation to provide supportive and structured operational line-management to the team and be able to motivate, train and delegate. You will enjoy working with students and have experience in training, teaching or presenting. You will have excellent partnership skills and be able to liaise professionally with industry. You will be a strong communicator able to engage and work with academic and professional services colleagues across the University.

This is a full-time (36.5 hours), open ended position. The team follow a hybrid working pattern with 60% of their time on campus.
