About us

Over the past 25 years, the Department of Imaging Neuroscience, home to the internationally renowned Functional Imaging Laboratory (FIL), has pioneered the development and application of imaging techniques to advance our understanding of the human brain. It continues to play a leading role in progressing and transforming research in many areas of neuroscience.

The aim of the Department is to advance our mechanistic understanding of how the brain works, including in real-world settings and contexts, and to develop clinically transformative applications of neuroimaging by providing computationally-derived biomarkers for personalised prognosis and treatment planning.

About the role

We are now recruiting a Research Assistant to support high quality data collection from all of the Department’s neuroimaging platforms across a wide variety of cognitive neuroscience domains and assist with the safe management of study participants while in the Department, most notably the MRI environment. Duties will include consenting study participants, operating the neuroimaging platforms, curation of data pertaining to the neuroimaging sessions, upkeep of equipment, and quality assurance testing.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in learning more about human neuroimaging, and you will gain valuable experience in data collection while working in a world-renowned neuroimaging department, providing a potential springboard for a range of future career avenues. Training in the use of the scanners and related procedures will be provided.

The role is available immediately and is funded for two years in the first instance.

About you

You will have an honours degree (minimum 2:1 or equivalent) in neuroscience, psychology, radiography, or another related discipline, and experience of working with a neuroimaging modality and of working with databased to record information. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills are also essential for this role, as is a strong working knowledge of data protection and a very high level of consideration and care for research participants.

What we offer

60Starting salary offered in the range of £38,607 - £41,255 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
