The opportunity
Central Saint Martins is seeking an Associate Lecturer in Design to contribute to the MA Architecture (MArch) programme within the Spatial Practices Programme. This is an exciting opportunity to support second-year postgraduate students as they develop their Major Projects, the core thesis design component of the course.
The MArch programme positions design as a form of research and is organised through three thematic lenses: Identity and Equity, Climate and Ecology, and Publics and Commons. We are looking for candidates with expertise in how these areas relate to the expanded field of architecture and critical spatial practices.
In this role, you will guide students through the development of their individual design briefs and support their experimentation with various working methods. Bringing your up-to-date knowledge and professional or research experience, your teaching will include a mix of one-to-one tutorials and regular group seminars or lectures. You will also be responsible for preparing teaching materials, delivering sessions, supporting administrative tasks related to the course, and providing both formative and summative assessment feedback.
Further information on the M-Arch Architecture course should be viewed on the course pages before application: https://www.arts.ac.uk/subjects/architecture-spatial-and-interior-design/postgraduate/m-arch-architecture-csm
About You
You will have completed a BA or MA in a relevant field and bring substantial professional experience in architecture or a related design discipline.
A strong interest in regenerative design, the core principle of the course, is essential, as this principle underpins students’ creative experimentation and production.
You should have a willingness to engage with student-led processes and diverse approaches to design. Strong communication skills and the ability to contribute to a collaborative academic environment are essential.
