About the role
The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking to appoint a full-time Departmental Lecturer in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation (EBSIPE). This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant research centre and contribute to the continuing growth of teaching and research in the field of Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation (EBSIPE).
The Departmental Lecturer will primarily be involved in the delivery of teaching, supervision and service on MSc and MPhil courses in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation (EBSIPE). They may also be required to undertake other administrative roles within the department such as co-leading the graduate student admissions process with support from departmental officers and colleagues, convene Social Intervention lectures and workshops, and share in the work of departmental committees developing academic strategies and policies. The candidate will also have the opportunity to lead or contribute to collaborative projects focused on policies or interventions for health, education, wellbeing, or other social welfare outcomes.
About you
You will have some experience teaching policy/intervention design or evaluation or qualitative or mixed methods with an area of substantive expertise related to policies or interventions for health, education, wellbeing, or other social welfare outcomes. Teaching will include convening or supporting a module on qualitative methods for the MSc/MPhil in EBSIPE, supporting EBSIPE’s core module on Social Interventions or Evaluation Methods, supervising MSc/MPhil students, and leading qualitative methods training within DSPI’s DPhil Methods Hub. We welcome candidates who have experience in qualitative methods, including the development and application or new methodologies, especially for engaging under-represented populations. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in mental health, school interventions, digital tools, children’s rights, ethics and/or community involvement.

This is a fixed-term post for two years. We would like the postholder to start in post on 15 September 2025, or as close as possible to that date.
You will be based in Oxford as your normal place of work however there is opportunity for remote working (up to 40% FTE).
