Warden (Part-Time, Permanent, 0.78 FTE)
Start Date: 29th September 2025
As a Warden, you will provide pastoral care, uphold the University’s standards of student conduct, and help ensure our halls remain safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments. You will be part of a supportive and experienced team, working collaboratively with fellow Wardens, Hall Mentors, University Security, our accommodation partner UPP and Student Wellbeing Services to create a positive student residential experience.
We are looking for someone with a high level of emotional intelligence, excellent interpersonal skills, and the confidence to support students through a wide range of issues. You must be approachable and compassionate, yet able to maintain clear boundaries and enforce the University’s Regulations for Student Conduct with fairness and consistency. The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure is essential.
Key responsibilities:
This role requires you to live on campus. In return, we provide free on-site accommodation (minimum two bedrooms), including utilities and council tax. Please note the accommodation benefit is subject to ‘benefit in kind’ taxation under HMRC rules.
The role can be emotionally demanding and occasionally challenging. It involves supporting students through complex and sensitive situations, so resilience, empathy, discretion, and sound judgment are vital. A good level of physical mobility is also necessary, as the position involves moving around campus, including areas that may not be fully accessible.
