Full-time: 35 hours per week over any 5 days out of 7. This will typically be Monday to Friday but some evening and weekend work will be required.
The Porters’ Lodge is a primary point of contact for members of and visitors to the College. Operating 24 hours a day 365 days a year, the Lodge provides a reception, information, post, telephone and security service. As well as providing a welcoming and inclusive service to our college community, the Lodge team play an important role in day-to-day communications within the College and are a focal point for co-ordinating both scheduled and unexpected events.
Leading a team of six Lodge Porters, the Lodge Manager is responsible for ensuring the provision of a high quality, professional service to the many and varied groups that interact with the college community, including visitors, academics, students and staff. Through effective line management, the postholder will motivate and support the Porters in their roles and ensure high standards of customer service are maintained. The Lodge Manager is responsible for security, first aid provision and fire duties across the College, and also has a role in supporting student wellbeing and in dealing with emergencies that may arise.
To be successful in your application, you will need to have proven managerial experience in a comparable role, and the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team. You will be customer-oriented with a commitment to delivering an excellent experience for all stakeholders, and have experience of gathering customer feedback and implementing improvements. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a friendly and welcoming manner, and be experienced in addressing and resolving complaints in a calm, empathetic, and solutions-focused manner. Experience in health and safety procedures, strong organisational skills, and a flexible and positive attitude will be essential.
