Purpose of the Post
We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Research Officer to support the development, coordination, and delivery of this innovative project. You will work closely with, CYP and families with lived experience of cancer, researchers, clinicians, and experts on digital platforms to ensure effective engagement, data collection, analysis and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Support
- Manage project timelines, risks, and progress, maintaining alignment with objectives and funder requirements.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of project activities
- Plan and deliver meetings, webinars, workshops, and engagement events with CYP and families with lived experience of cancer, ensuring diverse stakeholder engagement
- Support the co-creation process by facilitating communication between stakeholders.
Research & Evaluation
- Assist with literature reviews and background research on PPIE and digital engagement platforms.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of qualitative and/or quantitative research activities.
- Support data collection, transcription, coding, and analysis in line with ethical standards.
Public & Patient Involvement
- Ensure CYP voices are meaningfully included at every stage of the project.
- Help develop accessible materials and resources to support CYP engagement.
- Work closely with PEDRI and the project team to align with good practice standards.
Reporting & Dissemination
- Maintain accurate records of project activities and outcomes.
- Assist in the preparation of internal reports, presentations, and publications.
- Support dissemination of findings through CYP-friendly outputs, academic channels, and stakeholder networks.
Additional Responsibilities
- Create and maintain project management tools and communication materials.
- Support financial and contractual compliance with the Finance and Contracts teams.
- Adapt to changing priorities and emerging needs in a dynamic environment.
Experience and Skills
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. public health, psychology, social science, health research).
- Demonstrable experience in coordinating and delivering research or engagement projects.
- Exceptional organisational and project management skills, with the ability to lead complex activities and build effective collaborations.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to distil complex concepts into clear, accessible messages, and to build trust with patients, children, young people, and their families.
- Demonstrable evidence of working inclusively with diverse communities, including patients, the public, and children and young people, ensuring their voices shape research.
- Sound understanding of Public Involvement and Engagement frameworks and best practices, with experience applying inclusive research approaches.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
- Skilled at designing and facilitating meaningful engagement activities, such as workshops and co-creation events.
