The Department of Midwifery & Radiography boasts a thriving team of academics committed to developing highly competent practitioners and future healthcare leaders via our pre-registration and postgraduate programmes. Our department hosts the Centre for Maternal and Child Health Research, meaning staff and students benefit from the synergies of excellent teaching and world-class research.
Responsibilities
We are seeking to appoint an excellent Lecturer in Midwifery with academic and teaching experience in the field, who will make a significant contribution to our undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD provision. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of innovative and engaging education, across our pre- and post-registration programmes and modules. Specialist knowledge in biology and the Systematic Examination of the Newborn is desirable. The successful candidate will design & mark student assessments, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation work and act as personal tutor to students; they will undertake department administrative duties and contribute to staff and student events and meetings. There will be opportunities for personal and professional development.
This is a fixed-term, part-time post, 0.6FTE, fixed term to 30 June 2026.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high quality and engaging teaching across our midwifery and perinatal health programmes and modules, tailored to the diverse needs of our learners, and informed by research, scholarship and professional experience. Candidates must be registered with the NMC as Midwife and should possess an honours degree and experience in teaching and supporting student learning.
