Applications are invited for a permanent, full-time appointment as Professor/Full Professor in James Joyce Studies in the UCD School of English, Drama and Film. Following the retirement of Professor Anne Fogarty, and aiming to build on her immense achievements as inaugural Chair, UCD is now looking to appoint a new Chair to shape the future of James Joyce Studies at UCD, nationally and internationally. The Professor of James Joyce Studies will provide academic and intellectual leadership within the School and the University, and will lead and promote the study of James Joyce through academic and public engagement in Dublin and around the world.
The successful candidate will be an internationally recognised expert in the study of the works of James Joyce, and will have expertise in at least one of the following areas: creative writing, gender and sexuality studies, or world modernisms. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of the highest quality research, publication and teaching, and must demonstrate the vision and capacity to shape the future of James Joyce Studies as a dynamic, inclusive and diverse field. The role will include research and scholarship, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision, academic administration and public engagement. As UCD’s most famous graduate, whose student home now houses the landmark Museum of Literature Ireland, James Joyce is a key figure in UCD’s global reputation, and the post-holder will play a major role in promoting the values of education, creativity, and inclusivity within the University and beyond.
Successful candidate will be appointed on the appropriate Salary scale at the first point in scale or in line with current Government pay policy and commensurate with experience.
