The role

We are seeking an outstanding individual to make a strong academic contribution within the area of natural language processing and large language models.

We will especially consider applicants with teaching in an HEI, research or recent industrial experience in the area of artificial intelligence and neuromorphic computing.

You will join a large and vibrant School of Computing and Digital Technologies that is engaged in both teaching and research. The teaching and research activities in Computing are consistent with the University aims of being the leading applied university in the UK and to deliver practical knowledge, skills and solutions that meet the needs of employers and society.

A full job description can be found below, but your main duties and responsibilities will be drawn from:

  • Developing engaging teaching and assessment material in the area, and delivering to undergraduate and postgraduate classes, face to face, and possibly through distance learning.
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
  • Contributing to enhancing and improving the course management, student wellbeing and satisfaction, the teaching syllabus and related research activities.
  • Setting assessments, marking student work, and reporting on students’ progress, as well as providing timely feedback.
  • Contributing to one of the departmental research groups by publishing high-quality outputs in an appropriate specialist area, applying for funding, and undertaking knowledge transfer projects.

The Subject Group – Games and Artificial Intelligence

The Games and Artificial Intelligence Subject Group currently consists of 12 full-time members of academic teaching staff. The courses which are delivered by the Group include:

  • BSc(Hons) Computer Science for Games
  • BSc(Hons) Computer Games Technologies
  • MSc Artificial Intelligence

Our MSc Artificial Intelligence forms the foundation of the teaching within the artificial intelligence team and it has been designed to cover a wide spectrum of artificial intelligence topics. It is aimed at graduates with a first degree in computer science or software engineering. You will be expected to develop exciting and engaging teaching materials and practical exercises, deliver lectures and tutorials in a vibrant manner, as well as assess students as to their performance.
