About the role:
The Grantham Institute is Imperial College London's hub for climate change and the environment, established to promote interdisciplinary working and to meet some of the greatest challenges faced by society.
The Media Relations Manager will be an integral part of the Grantham Institute Communications team. In addition to providing communications support to Grantham Institute researchers and leading on media relations for Grantham outputs, a major focus of this role will be to provide a spectrum of communications support for the World Weather Attribution (WWA) project, an exciting, high-profile initiative led by Dr Fredi Otto. The project was founded to provide rapid and robust assessments on the role of climate change in the aftermath of extreme weather events. Its aim is to provide timely scientific evidence to better understand how climate change impacts weather today, how we deal with weather events now and plan better for the future.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering a variety of communications activities for the project and other related initiatives at the Grantham Institute, such as the Climate Damage Tracker, through media relations, social media and other digital projects. You will monitor and evaluate outcomes of communications, identifying areas of development and success and responding to improve performance, and build WWA's reputation.
