About the Role
For informal enquiries, please contact Nick Golsby (Associate Professor in Design Engineering) nick.golsby@warwick.ac.uk
This is an exciting opportunity to implement academic research in a commercial setting and would suit someone with a background in design engineering or manufacturing and with a strong career interest in tackling manufacturing or industrial problems, who enjoys developing innovative solutions and is motivated by complex challenges and the opportunity to make a positive impact on environmental sustainability.
Wastewater Fuels is on a journey to transform our collective approach to treating wastewater. We are transforming an expensive, energy intense industry into a net energy producer, by extracting the chemical energy from a variety of wastewaters, including domestic sewage and industrial food wastes. Our energy efficient modular, scalable asset treats wastewater and in the process produce hydrogen. The hydrogen can be used to generate electricity locally or sold to generate a revenue stream, thus making wastewater treatment viable across the globe (currently c.80% of wastewater is not effectively treated). Find out more by visiting Wastewater Fuels.
The impetus for this Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Wastewater Fuels and the University of Warwick follows on from a series of successful collaborations and reflects Wastewater Fuels’s ongoing investment in research and development. This KTP aims to develop an existing manual manufacturing process to improve it by designing, modelling, and constructing a mass production assembly operation; to = de-risk the next-stage investment for an innovative wastewater treatment product, and securing a place as a global leader in the market.
This post is part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) initiative funded by Innovate UK. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships is a UK-wide programme that has been helping businesses for the past 40 years to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK Knowledge Base.
