Established in 1904, the University of Leeds is one of the UK’s largest, most prestigious and diverse universities. Internationally renowned for the quality of our teaching and the excellence of our research, we are a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities, placed 82nd in the world in the QS World University Rankings.
Based in the vibrant city of Leeds, our vision is to make a positive difference in the world by understanding our place, harnessing the expertise, creativity and commitment of staff and students and building on the themes of community, culture and impact. With an annual turnover of £1bn, more than 40,000 students and 9,000 staff, we are continuing to make investments in student education, research and innovation and extending our international reach. We have over 14,000 international students from 137 countries, and we strive to embed an international mindset across all aspects of our activity.
We are seeking a new Pro-Vice-Chancellor: Student Education and Experience (SEE). Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and President, and a key member of the University Executive Group (UEG), for shaping and delivering the University’s student education strategy, ensuring it attracts, excites and retains talented students from a wide range of backgrounds, and that all students benefit from an outstanding education and all-round experience.
Working in collaboration with the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor and other members of the UEG, professional services and academic colleagues across the University, the PVC SEE is responsible for all aspects of the student education strategy, including Curriculum Redefined, the Leeds Partnership, and Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence, ensuring that it is sustained and able to adapt to changing external environments. As we refresh our institutional strategy, this is an exciting time to join the University.
We are seeking a visionary leader with a passion for enhancing student education and experience through research-led learning who combines a distinguished academic background with significant senior leadership experience. You will demonstrate a deep understanding of current educational trends and pedagogic research, with proven success in developing cutting-edge educational initiatives and digital technologies. You must possess the strategic vision to deliver innovative change and be a natural collaborator, with an open leadership style capable of engaging effectively with students, stakeholders, and representative bodies.
