About the role
As Academic Lead for the MBBS Clinical Skills Module, the post holder oversees curriculum design, delivery, and assessment in line with GMC requirements, while also developing innovative teaching materials. They manage three central Clinical Skills Centres, including budgeting, maintenance of specialist training equipment, and supervision of the teaching team across multiple sites. The role includes delivering core undergraduate clinical skills teaching, supporting assessments, and contributing to postgraduate and income-generating training initiatives. Applicants should have clinical qualifications, proven teaching experience, strong organisational and leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence in medical education and professional development.

About you
You are a clinically qualified professional registered with the GMC or NMC and educated to Master’s level, with substantial experience in acute healthcare environments and a strong foundation in clinical procedures. You have a proven track record in teaching and assessment within the UK education system, including team leadership and providing pastoral support to students. Your excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills enable you to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting, while your flexibility, IT proficiency, and commitment to high-quality education support a positive, inclusive learning environment. Ideally, you also bring experience in remote teaching and hold a formal teaching qualification such as Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
