The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic to join our expanding teaching team as a Lecturer in Computer Animation and Visual Effects at London College of Communication (LCC).

The BA Computer Animation and Visual Effects course resides within the Moving Image and Digital Arts Programme alongside the Animation, Immersive Media, Games Art and Games Design courses within the Screen School. This course explores the intersection of creativity and technology, helping students to develop their own critical voice while learning professional 3D and VFX software and techniques.

As a Lecturer in Computer Animation and Visual Effects, you will deliver engaging teaching primarily to first-year students, as well as those in their second- and third-years on the course. Working closely with the Course Leader and academic team, you will support curriculum delivery, provide academic and pastoral support to students, and contribute to the smooth and effective running of the course.

This role presents a unique opportunity for a committed academic looking to deliver an innovative and creative curriculum, while promoting inclusion and cultural diversity at a world-leading arts university.

About You

We are looking for someone who will become an integral part of our team - someone ready to embrace and contribute to our course ethos and teaching style, and to grow alongside our programme. You should be comfortable working with diverse cohorts of students and committed to a teaching approach that reflects our values: engaging students through innovative pedagogy, knowledge exchange and research.

You will have a proven track record of professional practice or teaching, with proficiency in Nuke Compositing for visual effects. Essential skills include 2D/3D tracking, keying and compositing workflows, paint and roto techniques, and integrating 3D renders into live action. Familiarity with other relevant software, such as Maya and Houdini, or a willingness to learn these tools, is highly desirable.

Experience in higher education (or a comparable context) is desirable, as is a demonstrable commitment to your students and to advancing teaching practice and knowledge exchange. We are looking for someone eager to contribute to our collaborative environment to help shape the future of our course.
