About us
The Research Department of Neurodegenerative Disease and the Dementia Research Centre (DRC) are recognised as one of foremost international centres for the study of dementia and other neurodegenerative disease. Our research portfolio encompasses Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, Huntington’s disease, motor neurone disease and frontotemporal dementia, and studies of ageing and the pathways of cellular senescence.
The DRC is a hub for clinical research into various forms of dementia. Our work focuses on identifying and understanding the disease processes that cause dementia, the factors that influence these disease processes, and how best to support people with dementia and their families.
About the role
We are seeking a Clinical Research Fellow to join a well-established multi-disciplinary research and clinical trials team at the DRC.
You will work on a portfolio of trials under the supervision of Professor Cath Mummery and will be centrally involved in the continuing conduct of trials assessing the safety and efficacy of disease-modifying therapies in Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia including novel immunotherapies and gene targeting treatments.
You will have the opportunity to gain experience of working in a clinical research environment in cognitive disorders, without the requirement to commit to a PhD or MD programme of study and will be closely involved with the multidisciplinary Specialist Cognitive Disorders Clinics (SCDCs) at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
An honorary contract will be sought from UCLH NHS Foundation Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.
The post is available from 01 August 2025 and is funded by the Neurogenetic Therapies Programme until 31 July 2026 in the first instance, with the possibility of further funding.
Although this role is offered full-time, we would be willing to consider requests to work on a part-time basis (minimum 50% Full Time Equivalent).
