About this role
We are seeking a Senior Lecturer, Programme Leader to cover key responsibilities of programme leadership and development for UWE Bristol’s award winning BA (Hons) Fashion Communication programme. The programme is at an exciting point in its development sitting within the newly formed Design cluster. The programme leader will help build on the current success of the programme and drive new developments with the other programmes within the cluster.
The main purpose of the role is to lead the day-to-day delivery and organisation of the BA(Hons) Fashion Communication programme, ensuring high academic standards and quality of learning experience. The programme leader will contribute to the high-quality teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate provision, lead key activities that enhance the student experience and drive a strong performance against measures such as student recruitment, retention and achievement.
UWE’s BA (Hons) Fashion Communication is based at the Arnolfini contemporary art gallery on the vibrant Bristol Harbourside. The course has outstanding facilities across our city campus and works closely with industry to deliver a future focused and practice-based curriculum. The course explores how fashion can be communicated through a broad curriculum that includes creative direction, styling and image making, branding, marketing and communications. The course recruits strongly, achieves highly in national surveys and has been identified as an area of future growth and expansion, including through a new Masters pathway in Fashion Photography.
About you
You will be qualified to postgraduate level (or near to completion) in a relevant subject, hold a higher education teaching qualification and HEA Fellowship, or a commitment to achieve these within two years of appointment.
You will have a track record of inspirational teaching in higher education, or be able to demonstrate equivalent industry experience, and will make a significant contribution to course teaching activity at undergraduate level. You should demonstrate subject knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas: creative direction, fashion styling, fashion photography, fashion film, art direction, fashion branding and advertising, fashion marketing and content creation.
You may have a broad range of experience in teaching with leadership of modules and/or programmes, research, and professional practice, active networks and strong contacts with local and national agencies and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling the development of effective working relationships with students, staff, and external partners (industry and educational; regional/national/international).

This post is based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects.
