About us

The UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is at the heart of UCL’s Grand Challenge of Global Health. The Institute’s vision is for a world where international policy on global health is informed by world class research.

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow who has the potential to grow into a future leader within the Institute. The post is available for a period of three years. The person appointed will be expected to work with senior members of IGH to develop ideas for and secure funding for a fellowship or other research programme.

About the role

We seek an individual with a strong track record in global mental research with interests in developing interventions, particularly psychological and clinical interventions. The ideal candidate should have a background or training in psychological or clinical mental health sciences

Teaching is integral to the work of the institute. We have a large portfolio of masters level and undergraduate teaching in global health. We have recently expanded our research in global mental health and will be starting a new MSc course in September 2026. The ideal candidate will be expected to support the new MSc and develop a portfolio of teaching in global mental health that complements and is informed by research.

About you

It is essential that the successful candidate has a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area (clinical mental health sciences, clinical psychology, psychiatric sciences or equivalent).

Also essential to have a strong track record in global mental research with interests in developing interventions, particularly psychological and clinical interventions and a background or training in psychological or clinical mental health sciences.

The ideal candidate will have experience of co-developing ideas and contributing to grant submissions for funding as co-applicant or principal applicant and experience of high quality delivery of research-based teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.

The role requires that the post holder has evidence of contributions to peer review bodies/committees, professional organisations, learned societies, government committees or Research Councils etc.
