About us
UCL’s Policy Office oversees policy across UCL, working closely with the many specialist teams to ensure that our policies are fit for purpose and aligned with UCL’s values and mission.
The Policy Office is in the process of establishing a new policy framework for UCL, which will include standardised processes for developing, updating and approving policies. The Policy Office is also developing a central policy register to make it easier for staff and students to access the information that they need.
About the role
As the Deputy Chief Policy Officer, you'll be a senior member of the Policy Office, helping to provide strategic direction and management of UCL’s institutional policy function.
You'll work closely with the Chief Policy Officer to develop and implement the Policy Office’s strategic plan. You'll also work with the specialist policy teams across UCL to oversee the development of policy and related procedure and guidance in line with UCL’s new policy framework, and with stakeholders across UCL to embed the new framework and support the delivery of institutional policy projects.
You'll also deputise for the Chief Policy Officer as required.
A full list of responsibilities can be found on the attached job description.
About you
To do this job you'll need experience of policy development (proposals, drafting, consultation, approvals) at a senior level and across a range of policy issues. You'll also have a strong track record of identifying, building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships with functional areas (e.g. Finance, HR, Legal, Risk) and senior decision makers/committees/boards.
If you're a qualified solicitor or barrister, and if you have experience in the Higher Education sector, then that's great. But if you aren't, and you tick our other boxes, we'd still love to hear from you!
Please review the job description carefully, paying particular attention to the Essential and Desirable criteria, and ensure these are covered in your application.
