About the role
Reporting to the Bursar, this post is to accommodate Newnham’s students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) appropriately while maximising the use of the College’s accommodation stock. This will involve working in close collaboration with the Tutorial & Academic Office in allocating rooms, creating and maintaining accurate and comprehensive information and dealing with requests and issues in a calm and professional manner.
This is a part-time, permanent post, working 18.75 hours a week (i.e. 50% of full-time hours) and worked over at least 3 days per week from the College. The salary is paid at point 34 on the University’s single salary spine, the current full time equivalent (FTE) for which is £30,805 per annum. For a 0.5 FTE contract therefore, the salary pro rata is £15,403 p.a.
Holiday entitlement is 33 days per year (inclusive of bank holidays), pro rata for part-time and there is a range of additional benefits, including a free meal when on duty, free car parking where available and use of the College’s gym facilities. The College also offers membership of USS (Universities Superannuation Scheme) pension scheme, with a generous employer contribution rate of 14.5%.
About you
You will be educated to at least Level 3 (or equivalent) and will have experience of working in a similar capacity, ideally either in an educational context or a hotel environment. This is a varied role, and the post-holder will be expected to have effective communication and liaison skills, excellent computer skills and experience of working with databases. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment are key, as are a keen eye for detail and a friendly approach.
