The University and team

The University of Cambridge is one of the world's oldest and most successful universities. We are a renowned centre for research, education, and scholarship that makes a significant contribution to society. The University is consistently ranked amongst the top universities in the world.

The Student Funding and Fee Policy Team sits within the Admissions and Access Department, and we are a lively and supportive team covering a wide range of funding activities for the Collegiate University.  Our rewarding work enables many students to attend the University who may otherwise have not been able to.

About the Role

This varied role in the team primarily supports the Student Loans Administrator in administering US Federal Loans, and other loan schemes on behalf of the collegiate University. The role holder ensures the accuracy of loan applications, disbursements, and related data and ensures compliance with US Dept. of Education Regulations. The US Federal Loans are audited on an annual basis so extreme accuracy and attention to detail is required for this role.

The role holder also supports the Henry, Procter and Choate Funds which provide full funding for students from British Universities to attend either Harvard, Princeton or Yale in the United States for one year.  The awards are very prestigious and extremely competitive with only the strongest applicants receiving fellowships.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working in an administrative role and preferably have some experience of student funding or scholarship administration, although this is not essential. They will also have the ability to prioritise and self-manage their workload, to meet targets and deadlines, and be able to deal with pressure.

They will have high levels of accuracy and attention to detail and an ability to quickly learn new records and reporting systems.

They should be educated to HND/HNC, Level 4/5 vocational qualifications or have the equivalent level of practical experience.

In addition, they will have excellent organisational and administrative skills, as well as written communication skills, which will be assessed via a written task if shortlisted for an interview.

  • A competitive salary with automatic service-related progression and annual cost of living increases
  • A generous annual leave allowance of 36 days per year (including bank holidays)
  • Access to a pension scheme with attractive employer contributions
