Department of Fashion & Textiles
The Department of Fashion & Textiles is the school’s largest department, offering design, leadership & strategy, and marketing education, at undergraduate, taught-postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The department supports one of the largest international student communities in Europe studying fashion leadership, marketing, management, and strategy programmes, whilst sustaining a long-held reputation for the nurturing of high-level design practice and craft-based skills.
The role
This academic role is committed to preserving and enhancing our growing national and international reputation in Fashion Design, encompassing advanced technical skills in garment cutting and construction appropriate to UG/PGT level study. The primary focus of this position is to provide high-quality education that seamlessly aligns with the broader objectives of our school and the university's overall strategy. The Fashion and Textile department has a key focus on creativity, sustainability, diversity, technical excellence, and digital resilience at the heart of the department.
About You
You will have a proven track record of developing and delivering an excellent standard of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, as well as being able to develop a variety of learning and teaching approaches to deliver an excellent level of education and support. Key to this role is being able to work collaboratively, as well as integrate teaching and research activities to ensure the university and school’s strategies are met. You will be highly motivated, responsible, and creative with a high level of technical and pattern-cutting skill, and knowledge of fashion display, marketing and branding strategy. You will have excellent communication skills, be experienced in working with a diverse and inclusive team of staff and students, and be able to contribute to, and support the university and school strategies. Relevant academic and industry experience is welcomed.
