The post holder may be based at any premises the University occupies and may be required to work at any University site or any other reasonable location where the University is undertaking its business.
This role will involve travel to visit students on placement in schools, so some hybrid and home working will also be possible.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate secondary teacher to play a pivotal role in training the next generation of educators. As a Lecturer in Secondary Education, you will contribute to the PGCE programme specialising in Maths, while also teaching Professional Studies to trainee teachers.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging lecture materials for both in-person and online learning, including asynchronous resources. You will exemplify best teaching practices, ensuring trainees experience innovative and up-to-date pedagogical approaches that they can apply in their own classrooms. A commitment to continuous learning is key, as you will be encouraged to engage in research and further study to stay current with evolving teaching methodologies and educational policies.
Beyond curriculum delivery, you will play a crucial role in supporting trainee teachers' professional growth, including interview preparation and employability skills development. You will also observe and provide constructive feedback on trainees' teaching practice while they are on placement across a variety of school settings. Working closely with lead partner schools and university colleagues, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of subject-specific curriculum maps, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practices.
As part of this role, you will also be involved in Ofsted inspections, assessment marking, and personal tutoring, offering academic and professional guidance to students. Your work will directly impact the quality of teacher education across Gloucestershire, preparing future educators to thrive in diverse school environments and make a lasting impact on their students.
