The Oxford Internet Institute – founded in 2001 - is a multidisciplinary research and teaching department of the University of Oxford, dedicated to the social science of the Internet.
In September 2025, the OII will take up residence in the new Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, moving from our current location across three sites on St Giles.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the professional services team at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. The Administrative Assistant will play a key role within the Governance and Resource team and will provide administrative support across a wide range of areas within the department, including finance, HR and recruitment, facilities, health and safety and events management.
This post is to cover the absence of the substantive postholder, who is taking a period of maternity leave until 30 September 2026.
The role presents an ideal platform for developing a range of transferrable skills and gaining a broad understanding of higher education administration and would be ideal for those who have experience with University’s administration.
About you
The post-holder will be a valued member of the team and will need to be flexible and proactive, and have a demonstrable commitment to outstanding service, with strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively independently, often with minimum supervision, and as part of a team in a professional and efficient manner.
You will be effective at multi-tasking, strong interpersonal skills, be keen to embrace change and able to accommodate a steep learning curve as you adapt to the differing administrative support requirements.
