The Oxford Department of International Development seeks to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Development Studies.
The Departmental Lecturer will provide teaching and supervision for the MPhil in Development Studies and carry out related independent research. We would welcome applications from those with research and teaching interests in any of a broad range of themes in International Development, including, but not limited to, multilateral governance, development policy making, and institutional dynamics of international development. The MPhil seeks to promote diversification and decolonization of the curriculum and teaching approaches. Preference may be given to a regional focus on Southeast and East Asia. We also particularly welcome candidates with expertise in historical and political approaches to Development Studies.
The Departmental Lecturer will be responsible to the Head of Department and work under the supervision of the Course Director of the MPhil in Development Studies.
The post is full-time and fixed-term for 2 years.
The successful candidate will hold, or be close to completion of a doctorate in development studies or a related field (such as history, politics, political economy, international relations, or geography). They will also have sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop course materials and research proposals. An aptitude for teaching and some experience of teaching and research are essential for this role.
