Summary of the role
This role is an exciting opportunity to join the Neurodegeneration Imaging Group, led by Professor Marios Politis, Professor of Neurology and Director of the Mireille Gillings Neuroimaging Centre at the University of Exeter Medical School. Professor Politis’ research involves using cutting edge PET and MRI scanners to understand how the brain works, and to gain insight into how best to prevent and treat diseases including dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
A Clinical Research Fellow is required for a series of studies on the glymphatic system - examining the combined effects of genetic, clinical, fluid, and imaging biomarkers on the clinical phenotype in patients with Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. The role will involve performing detailed clinical and neuropsychological assessments, PET and MR imaging scans in patients with familial and idiopathic Parkinson’s disease; as well as conducting the analysis of neuroimaging, statistics, presentations, writing publications and funder reports.
Candidates must be fully registered with the GMC at the time of appointment. The post holder will be employed by the University. An honorary appointment with the NHS will be arranged for the performance of duties related to the clinical research project.
