We are seeking a Postdoctoral Training Fellow to join the Translational and Experimental Medicine Group, led by Dr Alec Paschalis, within the Division of Clinical Studies at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to research focused on how advanced cancers adapt and develop resistance to therapies—ultimately driving the development of new treatment strategies and improving patient outcomes.

The successful candidate will play a key role in executing laboratory-based research, including functional assays using cancer models, molecular data analysis, and preparation of scientific publications and funding proposals. You’ll also contribute to collaborative projects and help with lab management and training of junior researchers.

About You
We are looking for an ambitious and motivated scientist who holds (or has submitted) a PhD in biological sciences and has a strong background in molecular biology and cancer research. Essential experience includes molecular techniques, cell culture, RNA processing, and data analysis. You should be highly organised, independent, and collaborative, with a passion for advancing cancer therapies. Those nearing completion of their PhD are welcome to apply, provided the PhD is awarded within six months of starting.

Please note: Postdoctoral Training Fellows at the ICR can only be employed for a maximum of seven years in this role, including previous similar experience elsewhere.

About the Team
The Translational and Experimental Medicine Group is a new and growing team based within a world-class research environment. Led by Clinician Scientist Dr Alec Paschalis, the group aims to uncover therapeutic vulnerabilities in advanced cancers and translate these into early-phase clinical studies.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative and inclusive research culture
  • Access to cutting-edge facilities and professional development
  • Opportunities to work with leading researchers and international collaborators
  • A competitive salary and generous pension scheme
  • Support for visa sponsorship and relocation (if applicable)

About the ICR
The Institute of Cancer Research, London, is one of the world’s leading cancer research institutes, with a century-long history of pioneering discoveries. We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion and strongly encourage applicants from all backgrounds.

If you’re excited by the opportunity to make a real impact in cancer research, we want to hear from you. Informal enquiries are welcome—please contact Dr Alec Paschalis at alec.paschalis@icr.ac.uk.
