Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess at minimum:
- A Medical degree and a Postgraduate Specialist degree in Anatomical Pathology including a DM or MD or an equivalent from a recognized university
OR
- A Fellowship which will be eligible to be registered as a specialist degree at the MBTT
Candidates should also possess:
- Ideally at least five (5) years’ teaching experience in the area of Anatomical Pathology
- A good record of research with publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
- Experience and proficiency in curriculum development at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Evidence of supervising and conducting research in Anatomical Pathology
- Competence in Surgical Pathology, Cytology, Autopsy, etc.
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- Postdoctoral Fellowship
- Practical experience in strategic curriculum development of postgraduate programmes and training of health professionals in Anatomical Pathology
- Graduate teaching experience in Anatomical Pathology
- Professional and research experience post graduate Degree
The following would be considered assets:
- Certificate in university teaching and learning
- Research experience in Medical Education
- Familiarity with Problem-Based Learning (PBL)
- Experience in blended teaching and learning
- Proficiency in writing research grants and attracting funding
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and coordinating courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Supervising research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as conducting research and collaboration with academics
- Familiarity with Problem-Based Learning (PBL)
- Conducting laboratory exercise in a large dry/wet laboratory setting
- Supporting university assessment and examination activities
Personal Attributes
The Campus places high priority on individuals of integrity who can work well in a team and student friendly environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential.
Candidates should also:
- Display good organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Possess skills in course development and project coordination
- Be able to support multidisciplinary environment and complement other teaching and research programmes in the Department
- Be committed to actively and consistently contribute to the Department’s Outreach Programme
- Be able to interact and work well with staff, students and industry stakeholders
- Be creative and innovative in delivery of undergraduate curriculum to integrate theory and practice
- Be able to integrate theory and practice
- Be willing to work flexible hours as and when required
