About the Role
We are seeking an organised and methodical person, to maintain the teaching and associated facilities within the Centre. The work includes preparing rooms for teaching & exams, maintaining and servicing Skills Centre equipment, keeping the rooms adequately stocked, and troubleshooting where necessary. Room preparation will involve manual handling such as moving tables, patient screens and examination couches etc., and the post holder will be expected to follow written floor plans with minimal supervision.
About You
Experience of working in a hospital or academic environment is desirable, but an inquisitive disposition and aptitude to learn about the equipment you will be required to maintain is essential. The post holder should be able to pay attention to detail and remain calm under pressure.
In addition, you will maintain an up to date inventory of equipment and learning materials and assist in the development of new learning resources as appropriate.
You should have the ability to communicate with students and staff at all levels, deal with general inquiries, and to work flexibly around the needs of the Centre (including unsocial hours and work at other QM sites). In addition to a flexible attitude and willingness to undertake a range of duties as required.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The Clinical skills Centre is primarily used to teach and assess medical students’ Clinical and Communication skills. Facilities include 11 clinical rooms housing a selection of anatomical models/simulators, and 2 Communication Suites comprising of audio visual recording & playback equipment.
