Applications are invited for Lecturing positions in Electrical & Electronic Engineering ( 2 x Specific Purpose contracts available) at University of Galway, with particular expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Post 1. Electrical engineering, analogue/digital control systems, dynamic systems, circuit design.
  • Post 2. Digital Design, Embedded Systems, Embedded Programming
  • Applicants will be considered for both posts unless they specifically state that they wish to be considered for one post only.

The new appointees will contribute significantly to programmes in Electrical, Electronic & Computer Engineering, Intelligent Robotics, and Medical Electronics. A key focus will be the development, marketing, management, and delivery of postgraduate taught programmes and new modules, including in Digital Health. They will collaborate with colleagues across academic disciplines and research institutes, supporting the university’s strong research capacity in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Active research clusters include Power Electronics, Medical Electronics, Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, Computational Imaging, Embedded Systems, Visual Media Enhancement, Bio-Inspired Electronics, and Communications (Research at EEE).

The successful candidates shall possess:

  • A primary degree and PhD in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline;
  • Experience in third level teaching/teaching support/student supervision;
  • An appropriate portfolio of peer-reviewed journal publications, and the capability to develop a strong research programme in Electrical & Electronic Engineering;
  • An ability and commitment to conduct programme administration and management in a public service university environment;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, and an ability and commitment to develop collaborative relationships with other academic staff in the pursuit of teaching and research objectives in electrical, electronic and computer engineering;
  • A strong commitment to working with the Engineering (and closely related) industry, particularly in terms of collaborative research.
