The Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic wishes to appoint a full-time Teaching Associate in the teaching of Irish for three years in the first instance from 1st October 2025.

The Teaching Associate will be expected to teach Modern Irish language at all levels, beginners, intermediate and advanced, and to develop students' interest in and understanding of Irish culture through classes and related events. An ability to also offer some teaching of language and literature in earlier stages of the Irish language is desirable, as is an ability to contribute to other work of the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic, such as examining and supervision of dissertations.

Applicants should have a good first degree and a doctorate (awarded before 1st October 2025) in a relevant subject area. It is expected that applicants will have experience of successfully delivering and developing teaching at University level, or equivalent. It is also expected that they will demonstrate an ability to play an effective role in the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic, and be able to work as part of a team.

The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance; it is generously supported by the Irish Government Ciste na Gaeilge Fund.
