The role
The University of Bristol Business School is inviting applications for an outstanding Lecturer (Assistant Professor) or Senior Lecturer in Management Science and Operations. This is a Research and Teaching role and is offered on a full time and open-ended basis.
Please indicate in your application which level of role you wish to be considered for.
What will you be doing?
Research and teaching are an essential part of this role. Candidates will be expected to undertake research in any area of management science and operations, broadly defined—including operations management, operations research, or decision sciences. The role is primarily targeted at candidates who adopt empirical research methods (using real-world data) and/or experimental approaches (including lab, field or natural experiments) in their research.
Our School undertakes research at the intersection of business, social science and technology, leading projects that benefit our economy, society and planet. Thus candidates will be strongly encouraged to undertake interdisciplinary research that addresses important economic, social or managerial challenges, and raise funding from research councils, industry or government agencies to support their work.
Candidates must be prepared to teach across undergraduate and postgraduate levels and have expertise in delivering project management topics, though opportunities exist to teach across other areas within management science and operations.
You should apply if
We are open to candidates with an ambitious and clear research agenda that interfaces with any aspect of management science and operations. Applications from candidates whose work engages with any of the following topics are particularly welcome: behavioural operations, decision making in complex and/or uncertain environments, resilient operations and supply chains, and digital technologies.
We care deeply about education and the student experience. We expect the candidate to provide inspiring and innovative teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate or executive levels. We are increasing our interdisciplinary programmes and therefore interest in teaching on programmes with colleagues from other disciplines is an advantage.
