Oxford currently has over 15,000 medical alumni around the world. The School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences aims to enhance the visibility of the medical school within its global alumni community, and to forge lifelong connections, from recent graduates to retired alumni, around opportunities for meaningful and sustainable engagement that are mutually beneficial. It aims to build a proud and engaged community, willing and able to support the strategic aims of the medical school and support members of the community.
The current medical alumni organisation (OMA) has for many years worked to promote good fellowship amongst medical alumni and to develop, foster and maintain association between medical alumni and the University.
The Alumni Engagement Executive (Medicine) will lead on the development and implementation of the School’s new Alumni Engagement Strategy, which is the outcome of an external review of OMA which took place in 2024. The strategy will be informed by the University’s overall alumni engagement strategy.
The postholder will manage communications with medical alumni, plan and organise alumni events, manage activities to provide support to recent medical graduates, track alumni engagement and provide support for a new medical alumni advisory committee.
The postholder will be employed by the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences but will work closely with members of staff in the University’s Development and Alumni Engagement office (DAE). They will also work closely with medical alumni representatives, and will consider further how these will be best involved in advising on longer-term alumni engagement.
This role offers a great opportunity to develop medical alumni engagement at the University of Oxford.
