Post Summary:
The purpose of this specified purpose Assistant Professor post is to contribute teaching and administrative activities in the Academic Unit of Neurology, School of Medicine with specific reference to the coordination and expansion of the Masters Course in Applied Clinical Neuropsychology and Neuroscience. The postholder will consolidate and expand a teaching strand within the Academic Unit of Neurology, with the longer term objective of building a clinical/academic teaching cluster that will drive a successful teaching programme at undergraduate and graduate level to meet the needs of identified stakeholders in the target learner cohort.
The postholder will have a background in Psychology and an established track record in teaching, and will be expected to contribute to postgraduate teaching in this field. The postholder will assume a leadership role in delivering the established Masters in Applied Clinical Neuropsychology and will be responsible for expansion of the programme to include Clinical Neuroscience, and the development of additional micro-credential oriented teaching modules.
Context:
There is an unmet need for a teaching programme that caters for advanced training in cognitive neuropsychology /clinical neuroscience. The Academic Unit of Neurology has an established MSc in Neuropsychology, provided by the multi-disciplinary staff within the Unit. This course is the first of its kind in Ireland and meets the needs for graduates in psychology, neuroscience, and Specialist Registrars in Neurology, who wish to pursue further clinical or doctoral research qualifications in clinical neuroscience, neuropsychology/cognitive neurology.
Rationale:
This established course is highly desirable to graduate in psychology and neuroscience, and clinical neurologists in training, with over 200 applicants per year.
While this taught masters in Clinical Neuropsychology will primarily attract psychology graduates, the future direction will including the fine tuning of individual modules to meet PG CPD / Certificate / Diploma training for neuroscience graduates, health related professionals including occupational therapists, and physicians including neurologists psychiatrists and those in medicine for the elderly. The course is also well suited towards micro-credentialing.
This successful candidate will engage in teaching activities of the Academic Unit of Neurology (https://www.tcd.ie/medicine/neurology/). The successful candidate will also support the strategic development of advanced teaching and learning in that integrates academic knowledge into practical application.

Salary: This appointment will be made on the Lecturer Full Salary Scale (€42,500 - €101,541 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales.
