The silicon photonics team actively develop photonics integrated circuits in collaboration with researchers and industry from across the globe, centred around unique cleanroom capabilities in Southampton, you will play a fundamental role in the success of the cutting-edge research that our research activity supports.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of characterisation laboratories and a number of tools housed within our world-class cleanroom facility. These tools will be used to fabricate state-of-the-art Silicon Photonics devices for ongoing national and international projects, as well as internal research and enterprise projects. You will be able to learn from some of the best researchers in the field and will gain valuable, transferable skills within the field of photonics device fabrication and testing. You will be provided with full training in addition to the opportunity to attend seminars and conferences to deepen your knowledge.
Experience in a laboratory environment, with proven experience of successfully planning and progressing work activities is essential. You will have skill level equivalent to achievement of HND, Degree, NVQ4 or basic professional qualification in engineering / Silicon Photonics or similar in a science related subject or equivalent industry experience is required. Basic knowledge in Silicon Photonics device or integrated circuit fabrication is desirable.
