About the role
The Bodleian Law Library is one of the largest academic law libraries in the country and provides services to readers from the University, wider academia, and the legal profession.
You will join the team that provides the Bodleian Law Library’s reading room services. You will answer directional enquires, help readers to use the online catalogue, and provide initial assistance with equipment that includes printers and photocopiers. You will issue books, and share in book shelving and tidying duties. Other tasks include showing new readers around the Library, scanning, loose-leaf filing, collecting statistics and helping to administer the document supply service. You will receive training in these tasks if you need it.
You will normally work 16.5 hours per week, term-time only.
The working pattern is anticipated to be:
Sat & Sun: 9.45 -19.00
Dates of weekend term-time opening for 2025-2026:
Michaelmas Term: Sat, 11 October to Sun, 7 December 2025 (9 weeks)
Hilary Term: Sat, 17 January to Sun 15 March 2026 (9 weeks)
Trinity Term: Sat 25 April to Sunday 28 June 2026 (10 weeks)

About You
You are an effective and courteous communicator with a commitment to customer service and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. You are IT literate, work carefully and accurately, and show discretion when dealing with sensitive information. Experience working in a library or similar setting is desirable. Good timekeeping is essential.
