Research Fellow (CSEA and Disability)

Part-time: 21 hours per week 

Fixed term: to 30^th April 2028

Childlight, a global child safety institute, is looking for a Research Fellow in Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse [CSEA] and Disability to undertake targeted research and contribute to Childlight’s Into the Light global index on the prevalence and nature of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

The Opportunity: 

You will have expertise in undertaking research to improve what we know globally about the prevalence and nature of CSEA, and bring experience of working with different types of data, including administrative data [such as law enforcement, health, child protection or education data], or nationally and/or sub-nationally representative surveys that measure CSEA. You will bring a passion for making the world safer for children, and in particular those groups and communities that are typically under-represented in CSEA research.  

The post holder will develop a proof-of-concept for including prevalence on CSEA among children with disabilities in Childlight’s Into the Light global index, including guidelines and minimum standards to ensure accessibility, inclusion and improving measurement of CSEA among children living with disabilities. 

This post is part-time (21 hours per week), and fixed term until 30^th April 2028. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

The salary for this post is £49,559 to £60,907 pro rata, per annum.

Your skills and attributes for success:  

• Strong experience of and interest in working across research methods.
• Experience of working with prevalence and administrative data.
• Experience of practice / paid / voluntary/research work with children and young people living with disabilities.
• Expertise in the area of child sexual exploitation and abuse research or related field that has had a demonstrable impact.
• Experience of knowledge exchange through effective public engagement.
• Growing portfolio of high-quality research publications in child protection or public health research.
• A passion for making the world a better place and preventing CSEA, improving services and safeguarding children.
