Queen Mary University of London Students’ Union is a representative and campaigning organization providing high quality services, activities, and opportunities for QMUL students. The Students’ Union’s mission is ‘Together, we improve students’ lives’ and works towards objectives such as improving the community on campus, providing better representation, and supporting and developing students.
QMSU Services Limited is the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Students’ Union. Carrying on the business as a commercial social purpose company, the services are provided principally for students, staff, and guests of the University.
Qmotion is the SU's Sport & Fitness Centre, located on the Mile End campus, and provides students, staff and the wider community with diverse and inclusive fitness facilities and services to enable an active lifestyle.
We are seeking a highly motivated fitness coach to support the successful operations of the Sport & Fitness Centre.
You will be responsible for providing guidance and assistance to users of the fitness areas, ensuring all areas of the facility are clean and free from hazards, and improving member experience through the proactive promotion and delivery of our fitness services including inductions, group exercise classes, personal training, and events.
The facilities are open seven days per week, and this role will incorporate the working of unsociable hours including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
The successful applicant will be expected to support the development of our group exercise programme through review of our group exercise classes, our timetable, as well as through the regular delivery of group exercise classes in a professional and friendly manner. To excel in this role, it is essential that you have experience in delivering a diverse range of group exercise classes to a broad range of clientele.
For the right candidate there will be the opportunity to support the development of our performance programme through the delivery of strength and conditioning services for our student athletes. For this opportunity candidates must be able to demonstrate experience delivering strength & conditioning services to teams or individual athletes.
This is a full-time (35/week), permanent position. The starting salary will be £29,406 - £32,066 per annum, inclusive of the London Allowance, with annual raises by one point as set out in the QMUL Pay and Grading Structure. Benefits include 30 days of annual leave plus university closure days and bank holidays, a pension scheme, free gym membership, 20% off in our outlets, and an interest-free TFL/Railway season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required, this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points-Based Immigration Scheme.
QMSU is proud to be an Equal Opportunities employer, and we are committed to equality of opportunity for all applicants regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability status, class, or any other dimension of diversity. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We particularly welcome applications from Black and minority ethnic candidates, as this group is currently underrepresented within the Union.
