The Faculty of Law seeks to appoint a Senior Access and Outreach Officer, reporting to the Academic Administrator (Undergraduate Studies). They will play a leading role in the design, implementation and continued review of the Faculty’s access, outreach and widening participation programmes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for taking a leading role in designing and developing the Faculty’s programme of access and outreach initiatives; represent the Faculty at internal and external events (including presenting at those events); collaborate with colleagues across the collegiate University to maximise the effectiveness of the Faculty’s access activities; line manage at least one member of the Access, Outreach and Admissions administrative team; take a leading role in designing a corresponding communications plan (including digital content) for the Faculty’s target widening participation audience; develop materials that can be used on the Faculty’s website; overseeing the recruitment of undergraduates, graduates and faculty members for outreach events and activities and have overall responsibility for the financial budgets related to the Faculty’s access and outreach activities.
The postholder will have a good understanding of educational outreach programmes and student recruitment, and experience/ demonstrable ability of putting that understanding into practice in an equivalent project or HE setting (for example, organising outreach programmes or events or similar); effective written and verbal communication skills with a range of stakeholders, and a good understanding of how to communicate with the target audiences; experience of managing colleagues or a team; a flexible approach to work, with an enthusiastic and co-operative attitude and a willingness to work outside of standard office hours and/or to travel outside Oxford on some occasions. It is desirable for candidates to have experience of working within Further Education or Higher Education and proven experience delivering online outreach sessions.
This is full time and permanent post. The postholder will be based in the Faculty of Law, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford, OX1 3UL. The Law Faculty supports hybrid working, and currently requires staff to be on site at least 40% of their working week.
