We pride ourselves on innovation, inclusivity, and practical learning that connects directly to real-world challenges.

The Role

As VR Technician, you will take full responsibility on managing our Virtual Reality Lab and supporting immersive teaching across disciplines. In addition to maintaining Holborn’s specialist facilities, the VR Technician will help coordinate and support VR delivery at other campuses, particularly as we expand cross-campus and employer-facing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver or support training sessions on immersive tools and best practice
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety standards in all technical spaces
  • Support staff development and contribute to collaborative, project-based learning initiatives

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident, organised, and hands-on. You’ll be comfortable working in a fast-paced academic environment and engaging with both students and staff.

Essential Criteria:

  • HND or degree in a relevant subject (e.g. VR, Computer Science, Digital Media, Engineering)
  • Proven experience of relevant technical or lab-based experience
  • Proficiency in Unity and immersive learning tools
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technologies
  • Solid understanding of health and safety procedures in technical settings

Desirable:

  • Experience with Maya, Bodyswaps, or Virtalis
  • Technical certifications or VR platform training
  • Experience working in higher education or multidisciplinary labs
  • A portfolio of VR or immersive learning work (optional but beneficial)

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, including London weighting
  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Professional development and CPD opportunities
  • Access to advanced training and software
  • Collaborative and inclusive working culture
  • Defined pension scheme

Additional Information

The post is based primarily at our Holborn Campus, where the central VR Lab is located. However, due to the College’s strategic investment in VR equipment across all campuses, occasional travel to sites such as GTS & Kingsbury will be required—especially as we begin engaging more with external partners, employers, and community organisations.
