The School of Health and Social Care has an excellent reputation for teaching and research in health and social care. Our academic members of staff include health policy, services, and systems scholars, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychological therapists, nurses, social workers, oral health practitioners, psychologists, and sociologists. The School is run over two campuses: Southend and Colchester. Academic staff are supported by a team of administrative staff based at both Colchester and Southend campuses.

The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology sits within the Psychological Therapies Division. With over 90 trainees across the three cohorts, we are an expanding program which values diversity of perspective and plurality of approach to training practitioner psychologists who will be able to work ethically and effectively in a changing NHS. On the program we teach cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic and systemic approaches to psychological intervention, alongside social models of mental health. We value our diverse trainees who come from a broad range of backgrounds and life experiences, bringing to the training a plurality of perspectives that can enhance the learning environment. As a team we are all research active, publishing in a range of areas connected to innovation in mental health, social care and particularly meeting the needs of marginalised groups.

You will take an active and senior role in the delivery and development of the doctorate in clinical psychology programme in the School.

Duties of the Role
The post-holder is expected to design and deliver a broad range of innovative teaching at postgraduate level. You will make significant research-led and pedagogically-informed contributions to module/curriculum design and development.

You will engage in sustained, influential and successful ways with substantive teaching and learning support roles in the department, including those which involve the organisation, leadership and/or management of specific aspects of teaching and learning provision.

Qualifications and Skills Required
The successful candidate will possess a relevant doctoral level degree or equivalent professional experience or practice. Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate, along with registration with a psychological therapies professional body- BPS, HCPC, AFT and/or BABACP are also essential to the post.

You will have the ability and willingness to complement and enhance the department/school’s research and education strengths and areas of planned development. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are also required for this post.
