Event Essex manages a portfolio of events in a huge range of venues at Colchester and Southend from 2-4000 in capacity. We are passionate about events and pride ourselves on the variety of services we can offer on our two Campus locations, always keeping customer service at the heart of everything we do.
Duties of the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a lively and enthusiastic person to join the busy Event Essex events team, in coordinating the delivery of conference services and facilities at the University of Essex.
As the successful candidate you will be working with a variety of clients, from initial enquiry through to on the day event co-ordination. You are responsible for creating client files using the Event Essex event management system to ensure that all records are a true reflection of the client's requirements and that the appropriate facilities. Additional responsibilities include processing client invoices for deposit and balances, liaise with external venue suppliers, front of house support, 24 hour on call support on a rota basis (June - September) and deputise for the Event and Operations Manager as necessary.
Skills and qualifications required
To be successful, you will need a good working knowledge of, or qualification in Word, Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft Packages. It is essential that you have experience in working within a conference or hospitality environment and working with a database or booking system. You will also be an experienced administrator with a strong background in providing excellent levels of customer service.
In our fast-paced environment, you will thrive on working to multiple, time-sensitive deadlines with exceptional attention to detail. You will need to be a highly organised individual and be able to manage your time effectively, whilst working independently and as part of a team.
As part of the position, you must have a flexible approach to work, in order to meet the needs of the business as required (i.e. to cover early mornings, evenings and weekends).
