The Role
As a laboratory technical specialist, you will apply your extensive knowledge of practical methods in Biomedical Sciences, including microbiology and molecular biology, to support our Faculty teaching, research and engagement activities. The key responsibility of the role is to lead the technical preparation of a portfolio of undergraduate practical classes across the Faculty of Medical Sciences teaching Schools, including Dental and Biomedical Sciences. This is a hands on practical role that requires a positive, proactive and collaborative approach with knowledge and commitment to develop, establish and maintain Health and Safety procedures.
Excellent team working, communication and organisational skills are essential to maintain our high standards of service delivery. Training of staff and students on the safe and effective use of a range of scientific equipment and development of their core laboratory skills is an important part of the role.
The post is part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences Education technical community, with access to continuous professional development and a network of colleagues committed to working collaboratively; sharing experience and best practice to deliver excellence, creativity and impact.
