About the Role
The purpose of this job is to be responsible coordinating activities relating to a portfolio of Rheumatology/Musculoskeletal studies within the Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology, (EMR) ensuring the highest quality of data and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and to support the clinical trial team at EMR at Queen Mary University of London and Barts Arthritis Centre at Mile End Hospital (MEH), Barts Health NHST in the overall management of the clinical trials.
About You
The successful candidate must hold an undergraduate degree in life science or another relevant subject, or a related field. They should have experience in setting up new commercial and non-commercial for regulated clinical trials. The post-holder will be responsible for central coordination and governance activities such as protocol development, submissions to Ethics Committees/HRA, database development, monitoring at the EMR. At MEH, the post-holder will be responsible to manage a team of Clinical Trial Practitioners in activities such as identifying patients suitable for entry into clinical trials, organising patient assessments and visits, coordinating collection and preparation of biological samples, and supporting patients throughout the delivery of their care on clinical trials. The post-holder will oversee their administrative responsibilities including data entry, maintenance of patient records and creating and maintain Investigator Site Files.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
EMR opened in May 2007 and is led by Professor Costantino Pitzalis. You will join a 60-strong research team dedicated to understanding the disease pathogenesis and improving the treatment of several musculoskeletal diseases including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome and Osteoarthritis. EMR is part of the newly awarded Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).

The post is 70:30 split role based 30% at EMR at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London and 70% at Barts Arthritis Centre at MEH. It is a full-time (35 hours per week), fixed-term appointment for 12 months, with an expected start date of August 2025. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £39,463 - £45,974 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
